Menold Bezler advises Klinikverbund Südwest on merger of clinic companies

Menold Bezler advised Klinikverbund Südwest on the merger with the two hospital operating companies Kreiskliniken Böblingen gGmbH and Kreiskliniken Calw gGmbH.

Klinikverbund Südwest currently operates hospitals in Böblingen, Calw, Herrenberg, Leonberg, Nagold and Sindelfingen. There are also medical care centres at the respective hospital sites. With a mandate to care for around 550,000 people in its core catchment area and around 6,000 employees, Klinikverbund Südwest is one of the largest municipal healthcare providers in southern Germany. It is run by the two neighbouring districts of Böblingen and Calw.

The foundation for the joint medical services of general interest was laid in 2006 with the establishment of a holding company. In recent years, the two districts have developed a joint medical concept. This provides for closely coordinated planning of hospitals and specialist departments across the districts in order to ensure a needs-based and sustainable care structure. With the merger of the two hospital operating companies and the holding company, the alliance partners are now taking a further important step towards fully integrated joint medical care for the inhabitants of both districts.

Menold Bezler provided legal and tax advice to Klinikverbund Südwest during all phases of the merger project for two and a half years. The team, led by Axel Klumpp and Felix Gegler, has extensive experience in the hospital sector. Most recently, they advised Klinikum Stuttgart on the acquisition of Sportklinik Stuttgart and on the acquisition of a specialist pneumology and cardiac surgery clinic.
